The current status of poisoning research over the past decade has been analyzed using CiteSpace software, providing valuable insights into the trends and hotspots in this field. A comprehensive review of relevant literature published between 2015 and 2024 was conducted, retrieving a total of 5,644 Chinese articles and 14,985 English articles from the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) and Web of Science Core Collection. The analysis revealed high-frequency keywords in Chinese literature, including "hemoperfusion" and "nursing", while English literature highlighted keywords such as "exposure", "oxidative stress", and "identification". These findings indicate the diverse range of topics being explored in poisoning research, with a focus on treatment, prevention, and understanding the underlying mechanisms of poisoning. The analysis also identified keywords with strong betweenness centrality, including "treatment", "blood purification", and "carbon monoxide", which are crucial in connecting different areas of research in poisoning. Recent emerging hotspots in Chinese literature include "liver function" and "oxidative stress", while English literature has seen a growing interest in "gut microbiota". The overall trend in poisoning-related research is upward, with research hotspots primarily focused on epidemiology, oxidative stress, clinical treatment, prognosis, and chemical substances such as CO and paraquat. The study suggests that in-depth investigations into gut microbiota and oxidative stress are expected to become future research trends in this field. By understanding these trends and hotspots, researchers and public health professionals can direct their efforts towards the most critical areas, ultimately contributing to the advancement of toxicology and public health. The findings of this study provide a foundation for future research, guiding the development of effective prevention and treatment strategies for poisoning.
