1. Scope
This policy covers the Medical Toxicology Community, a public toxicology question-and-answer service operated by Medical Toxicology LLC. It does not cover the MedicalToxic website, ToxLumen, or the MedicalToxic CMS. Each has its own privacy policy.
2. Public by Default
Understand this before you post. Every question and every answer in Community is public. It is visible to anyone, with or without an account, and it is searchable — both inside Community and by external search engines. Signing in is needed only to post, vote or save; reading requires nothing. Your content is bylined with your @username. Your real name is optional and is never required to participate.
3. What We Collect
The Community service itself deliberately holds very little: • Your email address and account ID. That is the extent of the account data Community stores — your password and profile live with the central MedicalToxic account service, not here. • Your content: questions, answers and comments, with their timestamps. • Your activity: votes cast, items saved, and the tags you filter by. • Technical logs: IP address, browser and device type, and timestamps, for security and abuse prevention. We do not collect your professional credentials, your employer, or your location unless you choose to put them in your content.
4. How We Use It
• To run the question-and-answer service and publish your content. • To rank answers by vote and to power tag filtering, your saves and search. • To moderate content, prevent abuse and keep the service secure. • To send you service notices about your account. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use your content for advertising.
6. Anonymity and Its Limits
A pseudonym protects you from casual identification. It is not anonymity against a determined reader, and we will not pretend otherwise. • Writing style, clinical detail and case specifics can identify an author to someone who knows the field or the case. • We hold your email address, and we can be legally compelled to disclose it. • Once content is public it may be copied, quoted, archived or indexed beyond our reach. Deleting a post here does not delete copies elsewhere. Do not rely on your username to make it safe to post something you could not post under your own name.
7. Retention and Deletion
• Your content stays published until you or we remove it. • You may delete your own posts. Where deleting an answer would leave a thread unintelligible, we may keep a placeholder noting that a removal occurred, without your content. • If you delete your account, we remove the account and anonymise the byline on your existing content. Answers other people rely on stay readable; they simply cease to carry your name. • Technical logs are kept on a short rolling window.
8. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to receive a copy of it, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent. 9. Changes and Contact
